Dudley Sports closed the gap on league leaders Bridgnorth after seeing off Ledbury Town 2-1 at home.

The hosts took the lead through Ross Harris after he nodded in from close range.

Stuart Hall equalised with a free-kick late on in the first half.

The winning goal was a superb solo effort from Matty Bridgewater on 75 minutes which sees Sports move back up to second.

Joint manager Neil Perks was delighted to see his side get back to winning ways.

He said: "After last week's defeat these were three welcome points and fair play to Ledbury because they deserve a lot of credit for the way they played but we showed a lot of character to come away with a win."

This Saturday Sports will travel to struggling Bustleholme.

Gornal Athletic are at last beginning to a see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel they seem to have been in this season following an emphatic 4-0 win at home to Ludlow Town on Saturday.

The Peacocks have been sitting perilously close to the bottom of the West Midlands Premier Division but manager Simon Williams feels their season is now starting to turn around for the better.

The boss who has been hit with a long list of injuries throughout the current campaign is now seeing key players return, with influential skipper John Richards pencilled in for a long-awited comeback later this month after suffering a broken metatarsal earlier in the season.

Williams said: "I don't want to tempt fate but slowly but surely everything is coming together.

"I always said once I could get my first choice team out on the field we would be okay.

"We are now seeing players coming back from injury and the players we have brought in are settling down nicely so we will be having a big push for the remainder of the season.

"We have set our sights on a mid-table finish and some cup success with a possible trip to the Molineux in the JW Hunt Cup a realistic possibility."

This Saturday Athletic will travel to the Old Bush to take on Pelsall Villa (3pm kick off) with Lee Pardoe available after suspension.

Dudley Town caretaker manager Rob Perks led his side from the front as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 home win over promotion rivals Shawbury United.

The goalscoring hero along with fellow caretaker boss Ian Rowe are set to be in temporary charge for at least one more game as vice chairman Steve Austin stated a decision on who will take over set be decided at a committee meeting next Monday.

The club are set to hold talks with their final candidate later this week.

This Saturday the Robins will travel to Ellesmere Rangers (3pm kick off).

Brierley Hill and Withymoor are away at Tividale this Saturday (3pm kick off).

The visitors were without a game last weekend but will still be brimming with confidence following an impressive away day win at Dudley Sports in their last outing.

Lye Town will be back in action at home to AFC Wulfrunians this Saturday after an unexpected week off.

Town were meant to play Bewdley away last weekend but the game was postponed due to a water-logged pitch.
