Glassboys break 2008 duck

A resurgent Stourbridge will be without a fixture this weekend.

The Glassboys were finally able to welcome in 2008 after picking up their first win of the year in a resounding 5-0 victory at bottom-of-the-table Berkhamsted.

Goals were scored by Nathan Bennett, Rob Taylor, Paul Danks, Andy Wright and an own goal.

Manager Gary Hackett said: "It was great to pick up a victory and a convincing one at that.

"It was also brilliant to see the likes of Rob Taylor, Paul Danks and Andy Wright on the scoresheet."

With Stourbridge without a game now until they travel to Bishops Cleeve on Saturday March 1, the boss is hopeful the break will give his walking wounded time to recover.

One player the rest will benefit more than most is Kyle Hadley who was taken ill after last week's defeat to Redditch United in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The young winger, who signed an 18-month contract last month, was rushed to hospital after bruising his kidneys, but it is hoped he will be available for the Bishops Cleeve game.
