Gore left fuming after defeat
BRIERLEY boss Tony Gore was an angry man as he witnessed his team lose 4-0 to Alvechurch in the Worcestershire Senior Urn Final at Aggborough on Tuesday night.
It was not so much because of the result but because he felt two of the Alvechurch players who were prominent in the win should not have been playing.
The Worcestershire Football Association controversially gave Alvechurch special dispensation to play three new signings from the bench, when they had not played the normal three qualifying league games for them.
One of them, Dave Brown, came on after 52 minutes and soon gained a penalty when he was tripped. Then to add insult to injury, Chris Bladen came on and scored a wonder strike to make it 4-0.
Brierley Hill and Withymoor had found themselves 2-0 down at half time but showed their normal battling qualities to make a game of it.
Stuart Hadley and Carlos Martin also tested Church's former Halesowen Town keeper Tim Clarke but to no avail.
Tony Gore's men are without a league fixture this weekend.
