DEFIANT Dudley Kingswinford will be in high spirits this Saturday as they aim to move off the bottom of the Midlands Division One table with victory over fellow strugglers Scunthorpe after celebrating their first win of the season last weekend.

The 12-3 home triumph, courtesy of four Tom Bissell penalties, over Newport was the beleaguered team's first league victory since April and was richly deserved by the low on confidence squad and under pressure head coach Mark Wilson.

Press officer, Peter Stinton now hopes the welcome win will kick-start the Heathbrook outfit's season after they lost their previous 10 fixtures.

He said: "To get that first victory was a big relief to everyone and based on the performance was fully deserved with the forwards coming out all guns blazing.

"Newport are a good side as they have proved by already beating Loughborough this campaign so I'm sure it will lift the spirits of the players."

DK will now travel East to Scunthorpe on Saturday knowing a win will move them off the foot of the table and Stinton believes back -to-back wins could be the launch pad to recovery.

He said: "A win on Saturday could amazingly move us off the bottom of the table despite our horrendous start and I really think this could give us some momentum to move onwards and upwards hopefully."
