Youngsters set for exciting end

As the season draws towards its conclusion Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club's U17s are going from strength to strength, winning six out of their last seven matches The latest victory over Bredon, however was the sweetest as they swept into the semi-finals of the North Midlands Cup. DK emerged 31-12 winners in what was a highly charged and competitive game played in wet and windy conditions at Heathbrook.

Bredon took the lead early on with a converted try and this was the only score of the first half with territory and possession being shared equally. In the second half DK moved Tim Cornforth to fly-half and brought Sheldon Goble on at scrum half and DK took charge of the game.

The first score came from flanker Jamie Graham who charged over the line, shrugging off three tacklers after only two minutes.

Ten minutes later DK took the lead when Luke Esser crashed over for the first of his two tries, swiftly followed four minutes later by Matt Taylor with a powerful run down the right-wing, before a great conversion kick by Tim Cornforth took the score to 17-7. Shortly after came Esser's second try which he converted.

The visitors came back with a try following a succession of penalties but the conversion went wide.

Ross Oakes scored the host's last try of the match from a tap penalty, shrugging of all challenges.
