PENSNETT United won their second trophy in a week by defeating Lloyds 1-0 in the Dudley and Cradley Heath League's Joe Stanton Memorial Trophy final.

Pensnett settled quicker than Lloyds and soon took control of last Sunday's game.

However, they failed to take a lead into the break thanks to the fine form of Lloyds keeper Rob Hoye. He pulled off two fingertip saves and made two brave one-on-one challenges to keep the scores level.

Lloyds continued to defend well in the second half and again had Hoye to thank for several top class saves.

The Lloyds rearguard was finally broken just as they started to mount a good period of pressure of their own. It also came with a moment of controversy.

Pensnett were awarded a corner which was taken just as the ref blew the whistle, causing many of the Lloyds players to stop. United's Aaron Lloyds rose to head the ball home amid the confusion.

Despite protests from Lloyds the goal stood. It also proved to be the winning strike as both defences stood firm as the contest drew to a close.

Pensnett added the Joe Stanton Memorial Trophy to the Ray Turley Memorial Competition they won the week before.

United had previously completed their Premier Division season with a 3-2 away win against King William on Thursday, May 15.

The season ended last Sunday as champions Bush Athletic beat Malt Dudley to cap an impressive Premier Division campaign.

Bush took control of the game from the start and hit three first half goals through Kyshon Ennvver, Dave Brown and Richard Price.

James Davies pulled one back for Malt in the second half before Nathan Anderson and Kieron Bennett completed the scoring.
