Moore arrives to boost Peacocks defence

GORNAL Athletic have bolstered their defence with the signing of Scott Moore from Bloxwich.
The centre-back will go straight into contention for Saturday’s trip to Highgate United with skipper Chris Waterhouse set to miss out because of work commitments.
For the Peacocks it marks a return to Midland Alliance action after the excitement of their FA Cup run which ended last Saturday with a 4-0 defeat to Blue Square Bet North side Worcester City in front of a crowd of more than 400 at the Garden Walk.
Boss Ian Rowe is looking forward to getting back to the league “grindstone”.
He said: “We have got three or four games in hand on some sides and a bit of catching up to do.
“It will be good to get back into the swing of things, hopefully we can pick some points up and get a bit of a run going.”
Rowe felt the final score against Worcester was harsh on his side, after the Peacocks enjoyed the better of the opening half and went close to scoring when Marvin Nisbett shot wide from 10 yards out.
Michael Taylor then put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time and Rowe was then unhappy with Mike Symons’ second just before the hour mark, when Gornal keeper James Pemberton appeared to be fouled.
He said: “I have watched the game again and the referee gave a foul for a similar challenge in the first-half.
“But I suppose, while it was an important moment, that is not the reason we lost the game.
“Overall, there was a great atmosphere at the club and I could get used to days like that.”
Tividale host Causeway United in a derby clash this Saturday as they return to league action after their own cup exploits.
Dean Whitehouse ’s side recovered from a slow start to push Hinckley United all the way last weekend, eventually going down 5-3.
