Causeway set for showdown with leaders
6:00pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in Football
BUOYANT Richard Colwell says Causeway United have the belief to shoot down Stratford Town on Saturday.
United welcome the unbeaten Midland Alliance leaders to Amblecote with their own confidence high following last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Stourport Swifts in the FA Vase.
Boss Colwell says they will need a similar performance to cause another shock.
He said: “We are going to have to be on our game again but our confidence is slowly coming back.
“I feel we can be a match for anybody on our day but there is no doubt if we are slightly off the pace we will struggle against them.
“I’ve been to see them play and they are a big, strong side.
“We are not expected to win but at the same time we were not expected to beat Stourport.”
Adam Meacham and Stuart How scored in each half to see Causeway past Stourport, with Colwell hailing the performance the best of the season so far.
The only downside was the early exit of Adam Ward due to a suspected knee ligament injury.
Colwell added: “We don’t know how serious it is at this stage but it didn’t look good at the end of the game.
“Adam has come off the bench a few times and done really well. It’s a shame for us but also a great shame for him as I believe he was going to get a few run-outs with Stourbridge too.”
Meanwhile, Cradley Town striker Matt Bailey is fully fit and ready to start Saturday’s home clash with Bewdley Town following his recent injury.
Hammers boss Adrian Mander will also welcome back Sam Wilkinson to the fold and has warned his players they will have to be on top form against the unpredictable visitors.
He said: “Bewdley have always been a funny side.
“You can go to Bewdley and beat them and the next day they will wipe the floor with you.”
A brace from Jason Barton and a Jack Pearlman strike saw Cradley record a 3-2 win over Dudley Sports last Saturday.
