BRIERLEY Hill & Hagley Celtic U11’s hit five as they defeated Tipton Town in the final of the South Staffs Junior Cup held at Chasetown FC on Sunday.

Joe Shaw notched the opener before Daniel Brindley made it 2-0 before the break. After Tipton pulled one back at the start of the second half further strikes from Shaw, Ben Moore and Harrison O’Brien made the final score 5-1.

Set to celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, the competition began in October with 379 teams from six regional youth leagues and is set to raise more than £3,500 for local children’s charities.

There was more success for Gornal Colts as they downed Rowley Rangers 2-1 in the U12 final held on Monday, though there was disappointment for Brierley Hill Bullets as they were defeated 5-0 by Sutton United in the U13 final.

Blackheath Town

Blackheath Town U15s hit double figures twice as they clinched the Division 3 title in their first season in the Stourbridge & District Youth League.

On Thursday evening they breezed past Hasbury Rangers with a 10-0 win thanks to goals from Matty Gethen (2), Jack Jefferson (2) and a goal each from Conor Warby, John Richards, Dan Cooper, Kris Newman, Alex Apati and Elliot Barnsley.

Requiring just a point to secure the title Gethen, Jefferson and Apati then struck hat-tricks as Town won 10-1 at Withymoor Colts with their most impressive performance of the season. Dan Cooper grabbed the other goal.

Town have now bagged 130 goals and conceded just 16 during the season.

Halas Hawks

Girls League: Halas Hawks East U10s put out a much-changed side for a friendly with Gornal South but still ran out 3-1 winners.

After conceding an early goal Lily Atchison struck an equaliser before Halas went on to dominate the second half, securing victory thanks to two excellent goals from Abigail Gennard.

The U11s continued their fine run of form with a 3-1 Merit Shield win over Kewford North. Jessica O’Sullivan opened the scoring before Kewford fought back to equalise minutes later. Second half goals from Amy Blakemore and a superb long-range strike from Sophie Blount sealed the win for Halas.

Danielle Lawrence gave the U12s the lead against Gornal West but Hawks eventually slumped to a 5-2 defeat, Elisha Rose grabbing a late consolation.

The U13s continued their fantastic season with a 3-0 win over Wordsley Wasps, producing some fantastic passing moves as Liz McAleenan netted a brace and Lauren Taylor notched the other to go top of the goalscoring charts.

The U16s kept their charge for the league title alive with a 2-0 win against Gornal.

Olivia Emerson scored early on but some dogged Gornal defence and some poor finishing from Halas kept the game in the balance until Gemma Colledge scored the second.

Boys League: The U11s enjoyed a successful away day at Netherton Colts as they bagged a 2-0 win. Jack Guest put the visitors in front before the match was settled by Dominic Hipkiss in the last few minutes.

The win sets up a top-of-the-table clash this weekend which will decide the league title. Man-of-the-match went to Daniel Jennings for a tireless performance.

The league-leading U15s maintained their title push as they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over MNG Milanco, goals coming from Tom Evans, Amin Ali and Josh Spencer.
