Treble joy for Morton

First published in News

JESS Morton cracked a hat-trick as Halas Hawks under-14 girls hammered Gornal 7-2.

The rout also featured two goals each for Elisha Rose and Charis Maguire.

Despite a spirited performance and goals from Louise Tromans and Amy Plimmer, the U12s suffered a 5-2 defeat against Kewford.

The U15s also had a tough first game against Kidderminster Lions who wanted the game more in the first half and went in three up.

After the break, Halas scored twice through Lauren Taylor and Rhianne Murray but it was too little, too late as the Lions ran out 5-2 winners.

Halas Ladies lost 2-1 to Erdington, Becky Allsopp grabbing the Hawks goal.

Boys League The newly formed U9s North had a day to forget as they went down 7-0 to Gornal.

There was better news for the U10s West who defeated Forest Falcons West 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Josh Beasley. Jack Bissell had earlier put Halas ahead before the Falcons equalised.

The U10s East made it two wins out of two at the start of the new season with a hard fought 2-1 victory against a dogged Stourbridge Glassboys side. Joshua Parsons and James Riggit were the scorers.

A superb fightback saw the U11s come back from two down to beat Hasbury Rangers 5-2. Joe Wythes and Will Deeley brought the score level at half time, before man-of-the-match Mohammed Mohamed made it 3-2 and a late brace from Matt Evans completed the scoring.

Chris Priest got all three goals for the U11 Dynamos as they beat Dudley Juniors 3-1, but there was disappointment for the U12s West who lost 5-1 to Kewford, Dylan Keeling grabbing their consolation.

The U13s won a seven goal thriller 4-3 with Ettingshall. They took the lead from Dominic Hipkiss, Kane Griffiths-York and man of the match, Jack Guest.

Ettingshall pulled back to 3-3 but a late winner from Daniel Jennings gave Halas the three points.

The U14s East had an impressive 5-1 win at Dudley Sports with goals from Josh March (3), and one each for Jake Walley and Jon Rizzo.

Hasbury Rangers The U12s made a wonderful start to life in the Stourport League with a 13-1 demolition of Mostyn Reds.

Goals from Jake Humphreys, Ben Gainham, Jimmy Williams and George Taylor saw Hasbury take a 6-0 half time lead.

More of the same continued from Hasbury in the second half and further goals from Connor Hoban, Luke Brettle, Jimmy and George completed the rout.

Jack Whitehouse hit three as the U13s beat Forest Falcons West 7-2. David Sunburk, Connor Leak, Josh Fellows and Sam Hardwick got the other goals.
