TONY Gore was full of praise for the players that stepped up to help Dudley Sports beat Pegasus Juniors last Saturday.

Sports claimed a 1-0 away victory despite the absence of six first team players.

A host of fringe players were brought in to fill the gaps and performed well to bag all three points.

Manager Gore said: "It was a brilliant performance from us. We went there with a very depleted squad but showed real character to get the win.

"Some of the players won't have played many games together but they worked really hard as a side and dominated for almost 90 minutes."

The winning goal came from a Kevin Linton strike just after half time.

"We now need to look to kick on from here. It shows we have some good options in the squad and will be even stronger when a few injuries ease up," added Gore.

Dudley will welcome Haughmond to Hillcrest Avenue this Saturday and could welcome Josh Garbett back from injury.

However, the game may come too soon for Jonathan Letford.
