SENIOR swimmers from Halesowen Swimming Club travelled to Leamington Spa last Saturday for the final round of the West Midlands National League.

The premier league was as strong as ever with similar strength teams looking to grab the honours on the night.

Halesowen battled hard throughout the gala and by the halfway mark were in contention for a good finish. Despite some battling performances and a runaway win in the final men's relay Halesowen had to settle for fourth spot on the night.

Star of the show was treble event winner Chloe Finch in the individual medley, butterfly and freestyle and double event winners James Cuthbert in the breaststroke and butterfly and Richard Spoor in the individual medley and breaststroke. Other individual event winners were Lily Merrell in the breaststroke, Josh Bradley in the backstroke and Mark Laing in the freestyle.

The girls age 13 and under freestyle team including India Hanke, Amber Harrison and Kate Morrice grabbed victory and the open men's team were unbeatable in both freestyle and medley relays including Jacob Darby, Michael Edmonds and Luke Morris.

Moving into 2015, the club is keen to encourage new swimmers to join and strengthen the team.
