GLASSBOYS boss Gary Hackett admits it has been a frustrating season for forward Luke Benbow.

The Stourbridge front man has not found the back of the net since his return from injury at the end of last year.

After initially missing the start of the season, the star striker burst onto the scene to smash eight goals in three games before picking up another hamstring injury that kept him out until just before the Christmas period.

However, Benbow has found it hard going to rediscover his goalscoring exploits since the turn of the year.

Hackett said: "It has been a frustrating time for Luke. He has had a stuttering campaign because of his hamstring injuries and he is still coming back from that.

"We are working very hard with him to help him get back to where he wants to be. I think we must also do more as a team to get more out of Luke and play to his strengths.

"When he's on song he's a big player for us."

The manager at the War Memorial Ground also says that his players must now work hard to return to winning ways after picking up just one point from their last three games.

"I think most of the fans understand what we have been through this season with the injuries we have suffered. They will be patient knowing we are having to rebuild the squad half way through the season," he said.

"However, by that token, the players must now knuckle down to pick up as many points as possible between now and the end of the season."

The Glassboys left it late to salvage a point at home against second-from-bottom side Trafford last Saturday.

"We were below par in the first half and didn't close them down well enough," added Hackett.

"We then gifted them a goal at the start of the second half and had it all to do. We have been conceding the first goal too often and giving teams something to hold onto.

"It was one way traffic in the second half and we deserved to get something from the game."

Stour will now travel to take on Grantham Town this Saturday. Their opponents sit two places above them in ninth.
