HALESOWEN cricketers are celebrating selection at county level after a host of successful winter trials.

The club have revealed Yusuf Khan, Elliot Evans, Tom Powell, Alex Jordan, Rhys Evans, Hayden Evans, Charlie Greening, Hassan Akram, Raqeeb Khan, Jujhar Johal, Masharraf Shazad, Deon Patel and Tom Wickstead have been called to their respective Worcestershire County and District age group training squads.

In addition, Tom Duke, Tom Baker, Sam Butt, Jake Ricketts, George Byrne, Mustafa Mumtaz, Arran Singh, Archie Reeves and Nathan Hines have all been selected to represent the North Worcestershire District at their respective age groups.

Club chairman Richard Evans said: “Once again the club are immensely proud that so many of our lads have been selected to play representative cricket this summer.

“We congratulate them all and a special mention must go to Jujhar, Masharraf and Hayden who have all been selected for the Development of Excellence squads by Worcestershire.

“On behalf of the Club and all parents I would like to thank all of the coaches who continue to give their time freely and selflessly to develop all of our youth players.’

Meanwhile the club will be unveiling several new signings in the near future ahead of the new season with the first and second teams again playing in the Birmingham and District Premier Leagues and the third and fourth teams in the Worcester County League.

They’ve also been boosted by increased levels of sponsorship ahead of the new campaign.

The club hold its AGM on Thursday, March 19 and all members, playing and non-playing are urged to attend.

Tickets are selling well for the evening with former World Darts semi-finalist and Sky Sports pundit Wayne Mardle on Wednesday, April 29 which will be hosted by Mardle’s commentating colleague Nigel Pearson.
