HALESOWEN Town's recent performances indicate they will soon return to winning ways, says manager John Hill.

The Yeltz have not tasted victory in eight matches but the boss at The Grove thinks another three points is not far away.

Town impressed against league leaders FC United of Manchester last Saturday before eventually succumbing 1-0 due to a late strike from the visitors.

Hales then drew 1-1 against Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night despite leading 1-0 at half time.

Hill said: "The FC United game was disappoint because of how well we played. We deserved to take something from the game.

"The Frickley game should then have been put to bed in the first half. They battered us in the second but must have been lifted by the fact they were still in the game.

"We need to improve in the final third and make sure we take our chances. Hopefully we aren't too far off now.

"It has been a frustrating time because this group is used to winning games after last season's title push.

"The signs are there and the performances have been really good.

The Yeltz are set to welcome Whitby Town at home this Saturday as they look to pick up a much-needed win.

"Whitby will be another tough test but we are capable of beating anyone in this league at home and the game offers a good chance to get back to winning ways," he said.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Jake Jones has now left Halesowen by mutual consent after a short spell with the club.

"It hasn't really worked out for Jake," added Hill. "He had a good impact but then suffered a few niggling injuries and never really got going.

"We both decided it would be best for him to move on with the end of the season approaching."

Hill confirmed that he is now looking to bolster his squad in midfield and the attacking areas.
