TIVIDALE midfielder Sam Williams has rejected the opportunity to join Stourbridge.

Williams, 27, who is currently recovering from a shin problem, has been an integral member of Ian Long’s squad for the past two seasons and committed his future to ‘Dale until the end of the current campaign following talks with club officials.

The Glassboys made their approach earlier this week with boss Gary Hackett looking to bolster his squad.

Manager Long said: “I’m delighted Sam is staying put – he’s a great player and we’ve had a great relationship since I arrived, both here and away from football. It’s not surprising to see that others clubs are interested in him but he’s shown great loyalty to this club over the years."
