THE Beacon League's Lester Charity Cup semi-final saw Sedgley Phoenix take on Cottage Spring Castle.

Phoenix were flying high after the previous week’s divisional cup success and hoped to add a second cup final to their season. However, they were unable to find the form required to take on the might of Premier outfit Castle.

The first half saw Castle enjoy plenty of possession but only create a few chances. On 20 minutes, Dan Miles struck from 20 yards out to put Castle ahead for a 1-0 half time lead.

The second half saw Phoenix suffer a defensive mix-up which allowed Dan Miles a tap in for his second goal on 70 minutes. Lewis Haycock scored only five minutes later to secure Castle’s final spot with a 3-0 victory and Phoenix left empty handed.

The second semi-final saw Hilton FC take on Bushbury EMB Rovers.

In an entertaining game, neither side was able to break the deadlock before the half time whistle. The second half continued end to end and although both sides created chances, Hilton could not find the net but Bushbury enjoyed the better finishing and eventually ran out 5-0 winners with Thomas Slade hitting hat-trick, and Kyle Matthews and Patrick Rafferty hitting a goal apiece to ensure an all Premier final on Wednesday, April 22 at the Castlecroft Stadium.

BNG FC Handsworth went in 3-2 down at half time against Springvale Steelers Cougars despite having taken a two goal lead. The first came on 20 minutes through a Josh Treasure strike and the second five minutes later thanks to Victor Odofa.

The second half saw chances for both sides, but BNG made a few mistakes which Cougars pounced on to score a further three goals to take the points in a 6-2 away win. On target for the visitors were Mitchel Wenlock (2), Hayden Hughes (2), Ryan Reid and Cory Ensor.

FC Banterlona were at home to Division One leaders Ellowes Hall. Ellowes edged ahead for a 1-0 half time lead and added three further goals after the half time break, with Dan Lucchesi, Matt Foster, Nathan Maxwell and Tom Stanaway.

All looked set for Ellowes to keep a clean sheet, but Simon Sharma grabbed a last minute consolation goal for Banterlona as Ellowes stay top with a 4-1 victory.

Second-placed Pensnett Panthers keep the pressure on Ellowes as they won at home to Randall Rangers. Panthers took control of the first half but saw numerous chances go begging before Steven Jeavons struck on 15 and 25 minutes for a 2-0 half time lead.

Rangers came out fighting in the second half and managed to pull a goal back before Ryan Cartwright added a brace to put Panthers 4-1 up and looking good for the victory. Rangers continued to look for a way back into the match and managed to reduce the deficit once more. But it was not enough as they left empty handed losing 4-2 with their goals courtesy of Andre James and David Thomas.

In a game of two halves, visitors Sandwell Action took a 2-0 lead against Springvale Steelers Academy. Jason Wood scored first, beating the off side trap to power Sandwell ahead on 18 minutes. Seenesh Patel doubled the lead with a goal mouth scramble from a Sandwell corner. The second half saw Academy enjoying better possession, but they were unable to create any clear cut chances and saw Sandwell Action ride out the pressure to take all three points in a 2-0 away victory.
