HALESOWEN Town's next big challenge will be to build on the progress made this season, according to chairman Colin Brookes.

With two games left in the current campaign, the Yeltz sit comfortably in a mid-table position in the Northern Premier League following promotion last year.

Brookes thinks the challenge will now be for the team to build on this season.

"We won't surprise anyone next season," he said. "Other teams will know what we are all about.

"We have to try and push on again and build on what we have achieved in the last two years.

"It has been a great season and we can hopefully keep the majority of the squad together again and then improve from there.

"First we must finish well in the last two games and enjoy them as well. We are all rubbing our hands together at how well we have done.

"The manager gave the players that won promotion a chance this season and they have done brilliantly. Many people may have had doubts after the first ten games but they have got better and better."

The Yeltz earned a hard-fought point away at relegation-threatened Ramsbottom United last Saturday.

It could have been more if they had held onto a fifth minute lead given them by defender Joe Hull, who scored from close range after good build up play by Iyesden Christie.

But Halesowen goalkeeper Matthew Sargeant was forced to maintain his recent good form by making some fine saves as the lowly home side looked to force an equaliser in their battle to avoid relegation.

Lee Gaskell hit the post for Ramsbottom in the first half and the home side continued to push in the second, Sargeant again excelling.

The goal they were looking for came on the hour through Matthew Burke whose shot took a deflection on the way in.

"It was a fair result in the end," added Brookes. "We did well with a slightly under-strength side but they came back at us, which was to be expected from a side fighting for their lives."

Joe Hull's goal was his second in as many games and took his tally to six for the season.

Hales will travel to play-off chasing Curzon Ashton this Saturday before their final game of the season at home to Grantham a week later.

Forward Ben Haseley may miss this weekend's game through injury.

Midfielder Tom Tonks will not be able to play not part in the last two fixtures after picking up a two game ban for his tenth booking of the season at Ramsbottom.
