HIMLEY captain Greg Wright says he hopes the club will be rejuvenated this season as they look to bounce back from last year's relegation disappointment.

The club has brought in a host of new additions to replaces some of those that departed over the winter.

"We are definitely looking to bounce back as a club and as a first team," said Wright.

"Things didn't go well for us all season and we want to turn that around. We have made a few changes to the side after some players decided to move on.

Out have gone Nathan Round, Nick Harrison, Sergio Fedee, Sandeep Dhillon, Jamie Harris and Dan Smith.

In have come former Halesowen opening batsman Will Fraine, former Wolverhampton seamer Mikesh Patel and experienced seamer Arfan Khan.

However, the biggest signing of pre-season could well be the return to the club of Wasim Jaffer as their overseas player.

He amassed 773 runs in just 17 league games in 2011 and is now back after Wolverhampton chose not to retain him. He will replace Fedee as Himley's overseas player.

"We need to show more fight and that is something that will hopefully come from having some young players in the side," added Wright.

"We are a young side and have lost some experience, but we want to make up for that in other areas.

"I don't want to make predictions about where we will finish. We just want to start well after rebuilding and see where that takes us.

"The addition of Wasim (Jaffer) does put us in the bracket of challengers but we must be careful not to rely on him.

"You can already see the difference this year by the way we are in the field. The signs are good and much more encouraging than last season when there was a distinct lack of grit and determination, which was the biggest disappointment.

"There was a lot of talk about what we should have been doing but not a lot of action from the players. Now we will be keeping things really simple and will be looking to develop our own style and really show what we are capable of."

Himley will begin their Birmingham League campaign away at Wellington this Saturday.
