CHAIRMAN Colin Brookes say he is happy with Halesowen Town’s strong end to the campaign.

The Yeltz have tasted defeat just four times in the last 12 games and have now matched last season’s points tally with one game left.

Hales will travel to Hyde United this Saturday looking for a victory to bring the curtain down on another solid season in the Northern Premier League.

Just a point would meet manager John Hill’s aim of beating last term’s points total.

The way the Yeltz have finished the season has pleased the chairman. He said: “Last season we struggled during the run-in so it has been good to end reasonably well.

“It has been good for the fans as well. They have stuck by us at difficult times and have been rewarded with some good results.

“Hopefully we can end on a high with a win at Hyde. It would be a nice end to a season that has been difficult at times with a lot of player changes.”

Hales ended their home season with a 3-0 victory over Grantham Town last Saturday. The game also marked Brookes’ final home clash as chairman.

Striker Tyree Clarke opened the scoring in the ninth minute and the hosts doubled their lead a minute before the break when Malcolm Melvin was fouled in the box. Melvin’s penalty was saved before Jay Denny netted after Kaiman Anderson kept the move alive.

The Yeltz wrapped up the victory on 78 minutes when Aaron Griffiths' free-kick found the back of the net.

However, Halesowen failed to back up the result when falling to a 3-0 defeat at Ashton United on Tuesday night.

The game saw young goalkeeper Jake King make his debut after first choice stopper Dan Platt suffered an ankle injury at the end of the Grantham clash.

“The Grantham win was comfortable in the end,” added Brookes. “We did very well and it was a great turn out from the fans again.

“But the team had a trip from hell to get to Ashton and didn’t really get going.”

The Yeltz will hold their end-of-season presentation night at the ground on Saturday, May 7 at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, the club have announced that season ticket prices will remain frozen at this season’s early bird prices until June 12 and will be available to purchase online from May 1.

Another boost has seen Dot Net IT continue their main sponsorship next season.
