STOURBRIDGE’S Under-10s girls team is celebrating securing silverware in their first ever season.

The young Glassgirls, who play in the First Division of the Mercian Youth Football League, beat Wordsley to secure a hard-fought cup success.

They won 1-0 at Malvern Town’s ground last month to mark a fine first season as a completely new team. Jess Beddall picked up the player-of-the-match award on the day.

It’s an achievement made even more impressive due to the fact that a lot of the side had never played the sport before.

The side is made up of Olivia Ellis, Tiegan Goff, Hollie Woodhall, Ruby Tucker, Nyah Butler, Megan Smith, Evie Middleton, Amelia Williams, Scarlett Butterworth and Jess Beddall.

They are managed by Claire Blount and assistant coach Matthew Beddall.
