BLACK Country Triathletes have been in the medals at a host of recent events.

Keith Bate won bronze in his age group at the British Sprint Triathlon Championships held on May 15 at Emberton Country Park, Buckinghamshire.

The same weekend also saw a number of BCT members taking both overall and age group places at Highley Sprint Triathlon. Ben Monkton finished second overall and Steve Blakemore third.

Blackmore also took the first prize for Men age 40-49, Gary Bonner was first male age 50-59 and Lorraine Gayton finished first female aged 50-59.

Blakemore continued his good form last weekend finishing first veteran in the Phoenix Sprint Triathlon at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, in a time of 1.13.11 for a 750m open water swim, 24km bike and a 5k run.

The fantastic performances by the Bate and Blackmore will set them up for the European Duathlon Championships in Lisbon on May 28 and 29, where they will represent Great Britain in the age group standard and sprint distance races.

The junior section also put in a strong performance this weekend at Wrekin Aquathlon with a number of young athletes competing across all ages.

Rosie Briscoe came third in Tristart 1 age group, Recce Ashfield came second male youth and Zoe Brickley and Holly Lewis finished second and third in the female youth category.
