BELBROUGHTON golfer Rob Aldred has secured a place at this year's British Par Three Championships.

The event will be held from July 26 - 29th at Nailcote Hall, near Coventry.

PGA trainee professional Aldred, who is a member at Ross Golf Club and joined head professional Tim Hall's School of Golf team in 2014, will take on the event.

This will be the National Championship's 83rd year and the event is steeped in history and will again be hosted by Tony Jacklin CBE, where Aldred will join 300 plus players in the four days Sky TV televised event, which includes two celebrity days and two days for the professionals to compete for prize-monies totalling €150,000 with €50,000 picked up by the winner.

Aldred recently took part in an 80 strong field in an 18 holes event at Nailcote Hall from which five qualifiers would emerge. He was able to draw on the experience of having played over 100 times on the Nailcote Hall course as a child where he learned a lot of his short game skills.

With a marvellous two under gross par round, he finished in joint third position with four others, which meant a sudden death play-off from which two would qualify.

With a birdie at the opening play-off hole, Aldred was the first to qualify and takes his place with Copt Heath GC Professional Daanyl Spalding, who was the days winner.
