BLACK Country Triathletes Jon Link and Richard Hancher put all the months of training into practice last weekend and competed in the Ironman UK event in Bolton.

First was a 2.4 mile swim at Pennington Flash which Link completed in 1.23.58, then a two loop 112 mile bike through the Lancashire countryside including the famous Sheep House Lane climb which he completed in 6.01.43, and then a 26.2 mile run starting at the Macron Stadium and finishing in Bolton town centre that he ran in 3.43.29.

This gave Link an overall time of 11.24.40 putting him 183rd overall out of 2,068 athletes.

He was followed by club-mate Hancher who clocked 1.12.37 for the swim, 6.50.44 for the bike and 4.22.14 for the run. His overall time was 12.55.08 to come 627th.

Meanwhile, Mike Anslow took on a long ride competing in the SCCA 100 mile time trial in Shropshire finishing in 4.38.11.

The results from last weekend’s Wenlock Triathlon have now been published, Paul Rogers took first place overall in a time of 1.12.21, Warren Haynes finished 24th in 1.26.27, Chris Pedley finished in 1.32.03, second in the Male Vet 60 age group and Mark Smith finished 85th in 2.08.35.
