HALESOWEN Town manager John Hill admits his side must work hard to replicate their away form when playing at the Grove.

The Yeltz have been on a good run in recent weeks and have suffered just two defeats in their last 11 games.

However, Hill thinks his side have once again lost too many games in front of their own fans.

That was again highlighted as they failed to back up away wins against Mickleover Sports and Grantham when suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat when welcoming Matlock to Old Hawne Lane on Tuesday night.

Hill said: "Until Tuesday's game we were going really well, but the issue for us seems to be that we look a much better side away from home.

"That has been a factor for a few seasons now and it is something we need to work on.

"There are a number of issues that affect us. Maybe it is the way we set-up in games or maybe it is because the pitches are better away from home. Our pitch isn't in the best condition for playing good football.

"Perhaps the players aren't that used to winning at home and that has got into their minds a little. Either way it is something I have talked about and it's something we want to improve."

Hill also thinks the issue will be easily dealt with if his side could rediscover their ruthless streak in front of goal.

He added: "I was really annoyed after the Matlock game because we played really well in the first half but didn't take our chances.

"We then made individual errors that cost us and ended up losing 3-0, which meant people went away with a bad impression from the game.

"We can't account for those errors but we can make sure we take our chances.

"It's an old adage, but if we take our chances then we probably aren't talking about our home form being an issue. Kennedy Digie had two chances and Kaiman Anderson another in the first half and we should have put two of those away and been in control."

The Yeltz will look to immediately improve their home record when they host fifth-placed Warrington this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Creative midfielder Malcolm Melvin will have a shoulder injury assessed ahead of the clash.
