LYE Town are set to finish in their highest ever league position after Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at St Andrews.
The Stourbridge Road outfit will end the Midland League campaign in fourth place – bettering the club’s previous best of sixth place in the 2014/15 season – after fellow position chasers Westfields could only manage a 2-2 draw at relegated Tividale.
Lye could have taken all three points after Jack Till put the visitors ahead within five minutes, but a Shay Brennan equaliser gave a share of the spoils to the Leicestershire side.
Now on 73 points, nine behind third place Sporting Khalsa and four ahead of Heanor Town in fifth, any result in Lye’s last game of the season at home to Loughborough University on Saturday (3pm kick off) will not alter their final Premier Division position.
