STOURBRIDGE Cricket Club is celebrating its 175th anniversary in style thanks to a host of exhibition matches.

Events are planned throughout the year, including welcoming the MCC, Worcestershire Legends and Worcestershire 1st XI matches in July.

Stourbridge players will take on the National MCC XI on Tuesday, July 4 at 11.30am in a one day match format. Then, on Wednesday, July 5, it’s the Worcestershire legends clash, which will include the likes of Mathew Sean Mason, Richard Stemp, Gareth Andrew, Martin Weston and Paul Pridgeon, from 1.30pm.

In the evening, a Stourbridge representative XI will take on Worcestershire first XI in a T20 contest.

The afternoon of Friday, July 7 sees current Stour players taking on a club legends side from the 1980s to complete an historic week.

“We are very grateful to Mark Asbourne who has organised the cricket week. Our players are looking forward to taking part in this unique event to mark the club’s 175 anniversary,” said chairman Harilal Jivan-Patel.

There will be an entrance charge of £5 for adults, £2 (8 -18 year olds) for the Wednesday games and a two-course meal will be available on request at £25 per person from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. To book the meal call Liz on 07870963676. The bar will also be available with a selection of real ales.
