STOURBRIDGE manager Gary Hackett said he was "absolutely delighted" after his side chalked up another FA Cup victory at Amblecote.

The Glassboys beat National League North side Alfreton Town 3-1 in the third qualifying round thanks to goals from Tom Tonks, Josh Green and Leon Broadhurst.

It was a task made easier as the visitors were reduced to nine men before the 25th minute mark.

Never-say-die Alfreton kept themselves in the tie, especially after Craig Westcarr fired home from the spot to make it 2-1 mid-way through the second half.

However, the boss was just pleased his side did enough to progress.

He said: "You have to recognise that we've beaten a Conference North side and a side doing really well in their league.

"Regardless of what you think of the sendings off, and I thought the first was a sending off but the second was harsh, that's not our problem.

"We got a little nervy second half. Did they get a fortuitous penalty? I don't know.

"At the end of the day, we're in that hat for the fourth qualifying round and we've beaten a good side from a higher league.

"It was important time for Tom (Tonks) to score and in the second half Josh Green has popped up with a goal too.

"When they scored the penalty you're bound to be a bit nervous. It's not easy but I'm just absolutely delight we've won and there is just one to go to reach that elusive First Round proper.

Stour can now look to Monday's draw before turning their attention to Coalville in the league on Monday night.

Hackett added: We need to recognise we have another big game on Monday too. Jordan Archer came off with a sore knee but we'll just have to assess everyone and go again."
