Kent enjoyed a dominant win over Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup while Glamorgan broke their duck in a close game against Sussex.

Kent moved within a point of South Group leaders Hampshire after Heino Kuhn’s century set up a 220-run win at Beckenham.

The South Africa opener hit 117 and put on 93 with opening partner Daniel Bell-Drummond (48), 138 with Joe Denly (78) and 70 with Alex Blake, who dominated that partnership with 59 from 26 balls, as Kent amassed 384 for eight in their 50 overs.

Darren Stevens’ medium pace then accounted for six for 25 as Surrey were routed for 164 despite Jason Roy’s rapid 68 and 42 from Rory Burns.

Colin Ingram led the way as Glamorgan chased down a target of 278 to win by six wickets.

Michael Burgess (58) and David Wiese (67) put on 120 for Sussex’s sixth wicket as they reached 277 for eight despite Timm van der Gugten’s three for 58.

The game was in the balance with Glamorgan 183 for four in the 39th over – but captain Ingram (95 not out) and Kiran Carlson, with 59no from 40 balls, saw them home.

Somerset were rescued by the rain after they were bowled out for 211 by Gloucestershire, Craig Miles with three for 31 after Peter Trego’s 74 put something on the board for the home side.

Gloucestershire were cruising at 39 without loss from six overs when torrential rain led to a no-result.

In the North Group, leaders Worcestershire were beaten by Nottinghamshire in a low-scoring game at Trent Bridge.

Moeen Ali took four for 33 at Notts were bowled out for 202, Riki Wessels with 50 and Ross Taylor 47 – but Worcestershire could only manage 164 in reply.

Daryl Mitchell ground out 62 runs, and Ed Barnard 36 from number eight, but Luke Fletcher took four for 20 including key men Joe Clarke and Callum Ferguson to leave Notts just a point off the summit.

Warwickshire and Derbyshire joined Worcestershire at the summit with victory over Durham and Northamptonshire respectively.

Warwickshire were set 300 to win after Durham’s Michael Richardson made 111 and Will Smith 119.

Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott responded with centuries of their own, 145no and 100 respectively, as the Bears reached their target with seven balls and five wickets to spare.
