DK fail to find elusive win

DUDLEY Kingswinford passed up what might have been their best remaining chance of victory this season when losing to fellow strugglers Sheffield Tigers.

Dismal DK now have only three games left to avoid the unwanted tag of going an entire campaign without a win.

They travelled to third-from-bottom Sheffield with a slight degree of optimism. However, it was not long before any thoughts of a first victory were dispelled.

Despite early DK pressure, it was Tigers that opened the scoring. Following a line out, their forwards recycled the ball well before centre Nicholas Thomson crossed for the try. Thomas Outram added the extra points.

An identical try, this time seeing winger Peter Swatkins going over, was scored soon after. Once again, Outram added the extras.

A penalty took the score to 19-0 to the home side before DK hit a penalty of their own to register their first score.

But Tigers hit back straight from the restart when Nick Thomson scored his second try to give them a 24-3 half time lead.

More Sheffield tries in the second period took the game well away from DK.

Only when they were 45-3 down with the game drawing to a close did they register their first try to leave the full time score at 45-8.

DK now face Sedgley Park at home this Saturday.
