OLD Halesonians RFC have been piling up the points in Midlands One West this season.

Having battered Barkers Butts by 90 points last week, Hales followed up when blitzing Berkswell and Balsall 66-14.

It takes Hales total points tally this season to 376 from nine games to leave them third-in-the-table, five points adrift of leaders Lichfield.

Hales hit the ground running at Berkswell when skipper Richard Taylor set the tone by running in an early try which Steve Powell converted.

Three more tries followed before half-time through Tom Jordan, Simon Sabel and Tom Harris, Powell converting one while Dave Hadkiss kicked the others to give Hales a 28-0 lead at the break.

The theme continued into the second-half with centre Andy Robinson racing over for two more tries, both converted by Hadkiss while Dan Young also breached Berkswell’s try-line to put Hales into a 47-0 lead.

Berkswell were then awarded a penalty-try when Tom Harris was judged to have tackled a player off the ball.

But Berkswell’s misery continued as Hales added three more tries through Andy Fitzgerald, Seb Rose and Steve Head before the hosts managed a late converterd try.

Another points bonanza could be on the cards this Saturday when Hales host bottom side Camp Hill at Wassell Grove (2.30pm).

The second string also got into the try-scoring act by running in 14 against Old Saltleians in a 82-7 rout.

The thirds had a much closer contest with Kidderminster when winning 33-26 while the fourths lost out to Kidderminster 32-5. Hales Colts crushed Whitchurch 48-7.
