Mitch promises they'll be no let-up!

STOURBRIDGE Director of Rugby Neil Mitchell, insisted there would be no stepping off the gas this week despite the fact they have no fixture.

Mitchell is more than aware their next outing will be at fellow title contenders Macclesfield, on March 1, and he will leave nothing to chance.

He said: “It’s a shame there has to be a drop in momentum but it would be insane to take our foot off the pedal at this stage.

“Everything is starting to kick-in with the Saxons at the moment and with seven games remaining, we are in the form of our lives. It’s all about looking ahead at the moment.”

The most pleasing aspect of Stour’s play has been in defence. In the past three games, they’ve only conceded three points while scoring 97 of their own.

Mitchell admitted: “There’s a recurring theme coming from each game. And those three points we conceded only arrived courtesy of a speculative penalty from over the halfway line at Sedgley Park.”

Added to that, last Saturday’s opponents Leicester Lions had not failed to score throughout their time in the National League.

Mitchell said: “We lost Sam Robinson and Ejike Uzoigwe just prior to the game through injury and illness, so it’s a testimony to our strength in depth that it made no impact.”

Stourbridge are looking to take maximum support to Macclesfield. They’ve already filled two coachloads of supporters and want to take more. Anyone interested can contact the club on 01384 395000.
