LOCK Donncha O’Callaghan has been voted as Worcester Warriors’ player of the month for February.

The British and Irish Lion was handed the captain’s armband for Gary Gold’s first Aviva Premiership game at the helm, and helped guide his Warriors to a 24-18 win over English and European champions Saracens.

He then led from the front as his side ran in four tries against Exeter Chiefs to earn a bonus point at Sixways, as Warriors made it five points from two games against last season’s Premiership finalists.

O’Callaghan picked up 24 per cent of the votes ahead of Josh Adams (15 per cent) to win the award.

O’Callaghan said: “I’d like to thank the fans for voting for me and also for creating such a fantastic atmosphere against Saracens, Exeter and Bristol. You see how much your support counts.”

O’Callaghan and Adams were closely followed by Bryce Heem and Will Spencer who each received 14 per cent of the votes.
