WORCESTER Warriors’ strength and conditioning department will undergo a “review” following the departure of Paddy Anson, according to head coach Carl Hogg.
The former Royal Marine will leave Warriors this week after less than a year at the Aviva Premiership outfit.
Anson arrived at Sixways in January, replacing Chris Hart, who was placed on gardening leave until his contract ran out last summer, as head of strength and conditioning.
Warriors say Anson was handed a promotion just a few months into his role as he was named head of athletic performance.
But the former Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester man will now take up a position at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Eamonn Hyland is Warriors’ head of strength and conditioning and works alongside Jamie Bain, Ryan Fisher, Kyle Goggin, James Wheeler, Liam Walsh and Joe Ryan-Green in the department.
“Paddy has got an opportunity with the EIS to work on an Olympic programme that he wanted to go back into towards Tokyo, so we wish him all the best,” Hogg said.
“We thank him for his contribution and we will move forward.”
He added: “We will look to review the S&C department and look at who we replace him with.”
