HOMEGROWN scrum-half Jonny Arr says it will be a “special moment” in his career when he makes his 200th appearance for Worcester Warriors.

The Worcester-born number nine is set to reach that landmark when Warriors take on Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell Stadium in the Aviva Premiership tomorrow (3pm).

The 29-year-old would also surpass Dale Rasmussen (199) as the club’s third highest appearance-maker behind Tony Windo (222) and Craig Gillies (288).

“If I manage to get a run out tomorrow it will get me to that 200-mark which would be a huge honour and a special moment in my career,” Arr said.

“Given the injuries I have had over the past few seasons it has been something which has been a long way in the distance for quite a while so it is nice to be within one appearance of making it.”

The former Royal Grammar School Worcester student came through Worcester Rugby Club’s youth ranks before making his first-team debut for Warriors in 2007.

Arr has spent a large chunk of this season on the sidelines due to concussion but said he was determined to add more games to his impressive haul.

“The only doubts I had have come through picking up injuries in the last two or three seasons and not being able to get off the physio bed,” Arr said.

“But I always knew I had more in me and I was more than willing to fight on and get myself fit so I could get back onto the field.”

Arr will also hope to return victorious from Sale but admitted second-from-bottom Warriors face a big challenge to come out on top.

Sharks, who beat Worcester 18-14 at Sixways in December, are in eighth position, just three points shy of a place in the top six.

“It is never an easy place to go and Sale have been performing pretty well this season,” Arr added.

“They have got some X-factor players within their squad.

“The likes of Marland Yarde can be hugely dangerous so hopefully we will come up with ways to keep those boys quiet.

“It is going to be a huge test.”

Warriors are 12 points clear of bottom club London Irish who host sixth-placed Gloucester tomorrow.
