SAEED Ajmal says he is “hopeful” he will pass his official ICC biomechanics test on his remodelled action in Chennai today.

The Pakistan spin ace, who picked up 63 LV= County Championship wickets for Worcestershire last season, has flown to India in readiness for the test.

Ajmal has been banned from international cricket since September after his action had been reported during the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Test in Galle the previous month.

He said: “I have worked really hard to overcome the flaws and I am hopeful that I will be cleared.

“I am going to give tests on five various deliveries and I am quite hopeful that I will return as spearhead of the (Pakistan) team after getting clearance.”

Ajmal is adamant he will not feature in the ICC World Cup next month even if he gets the ICC green light. But he has been working on new deliveries which he insists he will add to his repetoire.

He said: “I withdrew from the World Cup after I felt that I am not ready for it and if any player of the team gets injured even then I will not play.

“I have developed some new deliveries, like a ‘carrom’ ball and seam-up delivery which I have mastered and will bowl them at international level.”

Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes has confirmed he wants to re-sign Ajmal for 2015 if he passes the ICC test and has held talks with the player and his representatives.
