WORCESTERSHIRE Cricket Under-15s went down by six wickets to Kent in the final of the ECB's Royal London Under-15 County Cup at Leamington.

Openers Jack Haynes and Ben Johnson gave Worcestershire a fine start with a partnership of 84 in the 'B' Division final.

Haynes top-scored with 43 off 72 balls with five fours while Johnson contributed 38 off 62 deliveries with five boundaries.

But after that wickets fell at regular intervals with Matthew Davis - 35 off 52 balls with one six and two fours - the other major scorer as they totalled 202 all out in 49.5 overs.

Kent lost two early wickets but the match was effectively decided by a third wicket stand of 144 in 28 overs between Jordan Cox and Julian O'Riardan.

Cox was eventually dismissed for 74 off 96 balls with nine boundaries - one of three victims of Hassan Akram.

But O'Riardan saw his side through to victory with 84 not out from 111 balls with nine fours.

Akram finished with fine figures of 3-43 from 9.4 overs.

The County side, who defeated Derbyshire Cricket Board by 55 runs in the semi-final at Barnt Green, can be proud of their efforts in reaching the final.

They qualified for the semi-finals by topping their group which consisted of Buckinghamshire CB, Northamptonshire CB, Shropshire CB and Herefordshire Cricket.

Worcestershire Cricket finished level on points with Buckinghamshire but had a superior net run rate.
