WORCESTERSHIRE Cricket Society members can enjoy a double bill at tomorrow night’s monthly meeting at New Road at 7.30pm.

The main guest speaker will be the County’s new captain and all-rounder Joe Leach.

But club CEO Tom Scott will also provide an update on his first 12 months in the role.

Leach, 26, will look back over his career from the early days through to becoming County’s 29th official captain.

He captained Shrewsbury School, played Minor Counties cricket for Shropshire and Staffordshire and studied French and philosophy before making his first-class debut for Leeds-Bradford MCCU in 2012.

Leach had a spell as County second XI captain before breaking into the first team.

He has been voted players’ player of the year for the past two seasons after taking 59 and 65 Championship wickets respectively and also scoring vital runs down the order.

Leach became the first player in the country to take a hat-trick with the first three balls of a match against Northamptonshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Worcester-born Scott has been a lifelong supporter of the County.

The 57-year-old former police detective founded the Cotswold Group, focusing on surveillance, fraud and intelligence services, in 1990.

By the time the company was acquired by G4S in 2011, it employed more than 300 full-time staff in Gloucester, London, Manchester and Norwich.

Cotswold Group were the County's main sponsor for three years from 2009 and ex-Nunnery Wood Secondary School pupil Scott was on the County’s informal strategic group before replacing David Leatherdale as CEO.

His love of the club stretches back to the days of Glenn Turner, Vanburn Holder and Basil D’Oliveira.

Non-society members can attend tomorrow night for £3.
