BEN Twohig will skipper Worcestershire seconds for the first time as coach Kevin Sharp looks to match some impressive Trophy form when they launch their T20 campaign.

They came within one point of qualifying for the Trophy semi-finals, winning four games before being edged out by eight runs against Durham and one wicket by Lancashire.

Now the County switch to the short format, starting with two T20 matches tomorrow against MCC Young Cricketers at Merchant Taylor's School, London, with spinner Twohig leading the side.

Sharp said: "Stats-wise we did not perform particularly well last year (in the T20). If we can continue the 50-over form I will be delighted.

"We just fell short of qualifying (in the Trophy). The game versus Durham at New Road was particularly disappointing because we got into a position to win.

"We didn't quite get over the line to make the semis but I was very pleased with the way we played."

Ross Whiteley, who scored a half-century for the first XI at Sussex, is included for the first game which gets under way at 11.30am with the second match due at 3pm.
