WORCESTERSHIRE have included teenage paceman Pat Brown in their 12-man squad for today’s Specsavers County Championship Division Two clash with Glamorgan at New Road (11am).

Peterborough-born Brown is on a cricket scholarship at the University of Worcester.

The 18-year-old academy product has been a regular member of the seconds side this summer.

Opening batsman Daryl Mitchell and all-rounder George Rhodes also progressed via the University scholarship route.

Spinner Nathan Lyon will make his home debut for the County having played in three successive away games with Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Sussex/

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: “Pat has impressed us this year in what he has done.

"He deserves a chance, an opportunity to be around the first team to see how things are done in that area.

“Whether he plays or doesn’t play, it will be of benefit to him for the future.

“He has been through the academy but we picked him up a bit later. He is a Lincolnshire lad and impressed us with his effort in attending, training and practice.

“The real benefit to the players and us is the students are on site and just around the corner in Worcester. The university are also very flexible.”
