ONE of the biggest names in modern British comedy has been announced as the headline act of a charity fundraiser in Stourbridge.

James Acaster will take to the stage at Stourbridge Town Hall in October as part of the ‘Stand-up for Daisy’ night of comedy – all in aid of Reverse Rett.

The event is being held in honour of severely disabled Stourbridge four-year-old Daisy Gilbert.

Dudley News:

When she was two, Daisy was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Rett Syndrome. It has left her unable to walk and talk, and with a range of physical health problems – including difficult to manage epilepsy.

Daisy’s mum, Emily Marsden, said: “Research into rare conditions like Rett Syndrome gets little or no government funding so we have to try our best to raise money and awareness ourselves. “

Reverse Rett are a parent-led charity and is the only organisation in the UK funding scientific research into better treatments for the condition.

Emily, a mental health nurse, said the charity has been a huge support since Daisy was diagnosed with the condition and added: “They provide hope for the future of girls suffering with this nasty condition.

“Whilst we love and adore Daisy just as she is, we would do anything to make life easier and more enjoyable for her.”

All money raised from the night – which also features TV comic Ivo Graham, top Brummie MC Andy Robinson, and two local rising stars in Kingswinford’s Danny Clives and Lindsey Santoro – will go directly to Reverse Rett.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm on Friday, October 26, are available for £17.50 online at www.boroughhalls.co.uk, or from the Stourbridge Town Hall box office by calling 01384 812812.
