JAZZ is set to hit Blackheath and Cradley Heath libraries this month as part of a regional festival.

Libraries and museums across the borough are taking centre stage at this month’s Birmingham, Solihull & Sandwell Jazz Festival, which gets under way on Friday (July 20).

New Orleans-style piano player Justin Randhall will bring the festivities to Cradley Heath Library from 7pm on Tuesday, July 24, as he delivers the blues, barrelhouse and boogie of the Crescent City like no-one else can.

The Grey Goose Blues Band will perform on Saturday, July 28 – the penultimate evening of the festival – at Blackheath Library from 7pm.

Thrilling audiences for years, singer, guitarist and songwriter Frankie Williams fronts the band who always give great value.

Both nights are free entry, but tickets can be booked in advanced to guarantee entry by visiting the library, calling 0121 559 1884, or online at www.sandwell.gov.uk/jazzfestival.

There will also be an afternoon performance on the festival's closing weekend at Haden Hill House in Cradley Heath from 2pm.

Sandwell is an official partner in the jazz festival for the second year running, with more than 20 events taking place across the borough.

Councillor Steve Trow, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for culture and core council services, said: “Our library and museum services have played a key role over the years in developing Sandwell's increasing role in this international jazz festival.

“Once again they are offering a wonderful programme of concerts and welcoming a feast of homegrown and international talent.

“I hope people from Sandwell, the rest of the Black Country and beyond will really enjoy this 10-day festival and also get to explore our fantastic libraries and museums at the same time.”
