DUDLEY Sports finally got off the mark this week with a 6-1 beating of bottom side Bartley Green, It was Sports first success in the West Midlands League this season.
At one stage it looked as though Sports would run riot as they raced into a 3-0 lead with just 16 minutes on the clock.
But Bartley Green dug deep and Sports joint-boss Tony Gore claimed: “They could have caved in at that point, but they didn’t and tried to keep going.
In fact, they weren’t that bad, but we played really well and it’s important that we kick on from this result”.
Dominic Strevens led the scoring spree with a hat-trick while Dan Evans, Liam Morris and Alex Welch were also on target.
DUDLEY Town despatched Bilston Town 4-0 at the Dell Stadium.
The match was preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of former Robins manager Barry Stobart, who died last week at the age of 75.
Former Wolves, Villa and Manchester City player Stobart took charge of the Robins during the mid-1980’s.
New signing Sam Agar snapped up his second goal in two games while Dreniz Bala, Ashley Greenaway and Alex Perry provided the others Danny Cresswell and Brett McGilligan are both close to a return to the Robins midfield this weekend when they entertain Leek CSOB in the FA Vase.
BLACK Country Rangers claimed a late 1-0 win over Willenhall Town to remain amongst the early season frontrunners.
Josef Jakob struck the only goal in the 87th minute.
