Thanks to public demand, people in the Dudley borough have two extra weeks to nominate their favourite taxi firm for the local taxi version of the Oscars.

The Taxi Base of the Year award is an annual competition, run by Dudley Council, to celebrate good service provided by the borough’s hackney carriage and private hire taxi firms.

This is the second year that this competition is being run.  Due to a deluge of enquiries, the nomination period has been lengthened by two weeks, until Friday March 14.

Passengers are invited to nominate firms for their reliability, helpfulness, outstanding service, cleanliness, or for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Councillor Richard Body, chairman of the taxis committee, said:

“This competition is proving to be so popular that we thought it would be fair to increase the amount of time that people have to nominate their favourite taxi company.”

To nominate a taxi or private hire firm visit www.dudley.gov.uk/business/licences-registrations-and-permits/hackney-and-private-hire/taxis-in-dudley/  You can either enter your nomination online, or you can download a form and send it to Taxi Base of the Year Award, 5 Ednam Road, Dudley, DY1 1HL.

The new closing date for nominations is Friday, March 14.  The winner will be announced later in March.
