A DUDLEY man who raided the home of a Cradley Heath family after downing brandy, vodka and lager, has been jailed.
Ross Wilkinson disturbed a sleeping young girl as he pocketed jewellery during the break in, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
The 21-year-old then fled from Victoria Road property but he was arrested after being spotted in a nearby back garden by the police helicopter.
Wilkinson, of Spring Meadows Road, pleaded guilty to burglary and also admitted assaulting a police officer, after pushing her over while being questioned about the raid.
Recorder Abigail Nixon said the young child Wilkinson encountered during the raid had clearly been left traumatised by his actions.
She added that the offences were so serious, only an immediate prison sentence was appropriate and jailed him for 18 months.
