ENERGETIC supermarket staff pulled in £5,500 for a Dudley charity by taking part in the Dragon Boat Race at Himley Hall.
Sunday’s event saw the team, made up of staff from Midcounties Co-operative’s Sedgley, Kingswinford, Tipton and Tividale stores compete in various heats, rowing 350 yards across the Great Pool to raise funds for White House Cancer Support.
WHCS Manager, Caroline Webb said: “It is an amazing amount to have raised and we are absolutely over the moon with their efforts. They did incredibly well to raise that amount.
“We’d also like to say a massive thanks to the team for helping with the barbecue we ran throughout the day by providing all the food and beverages.
“We raised a further £240 in donations from that, and we are very grateful for their ongoing support.”
