A BRIERLEY Hill woman was sent to prison for 14 weeks for committing fraud.

Lesley Talbot, aged 44, of Mill Street, Brierley Hill, selecting two packs of bras from display in Mothercare, Brierley Hill, on May 21, before taking them to the counter and claiming a refund in an attempt to gain a £60 credit note.

When she appeared before Dudley Magistrates Court she was also sentenced for stealing items, worth £54.90, from shops in Brierley Hill on May 21. 

She must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

The following also appeared before the courts between August 11 and 16:

Guiesppe Patrick La Porta, aged 49, of Walton Poole Lane, Clent, was given a 12 month community order for entering a property in Halesowen as a trespasser on May 15 and stealing an empty drawer unit and a key. He must carry out 100 hours unpaid work and pay compensation of £150, a victim surcharge of £85 and £185 court costs.

Kay Alison Darby, aged 40, of Greyhound Lane, Stourbridge, was given a 12 month community order for assaulting two police officers in Stourbridge on July 28. She was also sentenced for failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis during the course of an investigation into whether she had committed an offence. She must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for 18 months. She must also pay compensation of £225, a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs.

James Tustin, aged 24, Brooke Road, Oldbury, was fined £400 for drink driving, without insurance or a MOT. When he was caught behind the wheel in Rowley Regis on July 28, Tustin had 42mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Peter Michael Walker, aged 39, of Brook Street, Dudley, was sent to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing cheese, worth £17, from B&M, Dudley, on August 12 and breaching a criminal behaviour order. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Sikander Zeesharn Iqbal, aged 32, of Terry Street, Dudley, was fined £120 for assaulting a man in Rowley Regis on April 12 and damaging a window bar belonging to West Midlands Police. He must pay a victim surcharge of £30, £150 compensation and £100 court costs.

Mark Thomas, aged 23, of Vicarage Road, Stourbridge, was given a 12 month community order for assaulting a woman in Stourbridge on July 6. He was fined £50 and must pay compensation of £50, a £85 victim surcharge and £100 court costs.

Karl Anthony Kent, aged 31, of Douglas Road, Oldbury, was sent to prison for 20 weeks for assaulting a police officer in Wednesbury on August 3. He was also sentenced for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a person to believe that violence would be used, in Oldbury, on August 14. He must pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Costas Papachristoforou, aged 54, of Quarry Park Road, Stourbridge, was given a 12 month community order for driving while disqualified and without insurance in Dudley on June 5. He must carry out 120 hours unpaid work and pay a victim surcharge of £85 and £135 court costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Michael John Williams, aged 31, of Buxton Road, Holly Hall, was fined £120 for drink driving in Dudley on July 29. When tested, he had 47mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £135 court costs.

Jason Hogan, aged 35, of Grange Lane, Lye, was given a 12 month community order for stealing items, worth £181.93, from stores in Dudley and Oldbury on July 17 and August 4. He was fined £50 and must pay a victim surcharge of £85.

Kenny-James Beardmore, aged 21, of High Holborn Road, Sedgley, was sent to prison for six weeks, suspended for 12 months, for assaulting two women in Dudley on May 29. He must carry out 50 hours unpaid work and must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £350 court costs.
