A STREET in Pensnett is set to be closed for the next two days as part of the ongoing £6.3 million roadworks.

Corbyns Hall Lane will be closed today and tomorrow (Monday, February 12, and Tuesday, February 13) to allow Virgin to carry out utility diversionary works for the improvement scheme.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We are now entering a critical stage of this major improvement scheme, and while there will be a lot of work going on there will inevitably be disruption to journeys.

“We ask motorists to bear with us while the work is carried out, and to seek alternative routes where possible.”

Council spokesman said a signed diversion will be in place during the work and access to frontages will be maintained “where safe to do so”.

The £6.3 million scheme in Pensnett will see two new sets of traffic lights on High Street and the junctions with High Oak and Tansey Green Road.

The road will be widened along the High Street for two lanes to be introduced in both directions at the new traffic lights, while there will also be additional pedestrian crossings.
