A DUDLEY teenager who played a key part in a knifepoint robbery in which a young man lost his moped has been put behind bars for three years.

The victim was sitting on the machine on a Black Country supermarket car park when he was approached by

Daniel Sell, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

He asked if he could have a ride on the moped as his accomplices Nathan Bell and Michael Parkes approached but the owner refused the request.

Moments later he was surrounded by the three men as Bell produced a kitchen knife which had an eight inch blade.

The knife was held near the side of the moped owner as Bell told him "Let my mate have a go on your bike" and Sell

mounted the machine.

Sell then did a lap around the car park at the Darlaston supermarket before Parkes got onto the pillion street and he then drove off with Bell running after them.

The owner of the moped knew the names of some of the three men and he reported the robbery to police. Three days later the machine was recovered and the three men were arrested.

Then, a month later, Sell came across the victim in the Walsall area and he told him: "If we go down for this watch your back. I will get people onto you. I know where you live."

The three men, all aged 19, admitted robbery while Sell, of Sandwell Street, further admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice and he was sent to a young offenders institution for three years.

Bell, of no fixed address, also admitted possessing an offensive weapon, the knife, and he was sent to a young offenders institution for two years and four months.

Parkes of Bassett Close, Willenhall - described as playing a minor role in the incident, was given 16 months detention suspended for two years.
