BLACK Country comedy star Jacky Fellows of The Fizzogs has swapped her Dancing Grannies cardigan for a wetsuit and lycra to take on an Olympic-style triathlon.

Jacky, who became a global internet sensation when a video of The Fizzogs performing their hilarious 'Grannies' dance act went viral in 2014, is hoping to put in an equally memorable performance when she swims, cycles and runs in the gruelling event in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

First up she will swim a mile across Netherton Reservoir, before taking on a 25-mile bike ride finishing in Kinver and finally running six miles to The Mitre pub in Stourbridge on Saturday September 15.

Jacky, who hosts the Friday breakfast show on Black Country Radio with Fizzog pals Deb Nicholls and Sue Hawkins, said: "“I have finished a degree course in art and decided I wanted to focus on something different in addition to my work with The Fizzogs. I thought I would do something that was a real challenge.

“I am not especially good at any of these things but I am bloody-minded enough to do my best in all of them. I’ve been training for it for six to seven weeks and it has been going well.

“With my husband Geoff, we did a 100-mile bike ride from Wombourne to Tewksbury and on to Cirencester and Gloucester.

“I used to do a lot of running and now I’ve also rejoined the Dudley Ladies Running Club who have made me an honorary member.

“I’ve had a bit of a steaming-up problem with my swimming goggles so who knows where I could end up in the reservoir."

There will be a crowd of supporters at The Mitre to greet Jacky when she completes her epic challenge at around noon on Saturday. Members of the public are invited to attend and make a charity donation for the Lye based emergency charity.
